Italian journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has claimed that there is little chance Antonio Conte will still be at Chelsea next season, and suggested that Barcelona could be the Italian’s next destination, report the Daily Star.
The Daily Star claim that Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge was under the spotlight over the summer with Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan said to be keen to poach the Italian from the Premier League champions. However, the move never materialised and Conte looks to be committed as ever to the cause at Chelsea.
Despite that, Ceccarini believes that his long-term future in SW6 remains in doubt. Speaking to the Daily Star, the Italian journalist said:
“The odds that he will be Chelsea coach next season are very low, so nowadays, with all the big Italians [clubs] already set up, I can see him going abroad. Barcelona would be an interesting scenario”
All due respect to Ceccarini, but we have absolutely no idea who he is or why his opinion should be entertained.
Conte has recently revealed to the London Evening Standard that he plans to manage Chelsea when the new stadium opens in 2022. That’s straight from the horse’s mouth.
