Chelsea manager Antonio Conte reveals that he’s not confident Alexis Sanchez will be joining the club.
The Telegraph reported last night that the champions entered the race to sign the Arsenal forward with Manchester United.
Sanchez has just six months left on his contract and would come at a big price. United are keen to swap Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the Chile international.
When speaking in his press conference on Tuesday, Conte has seemingly disregarded the reported interest Chelsea have in the player, as The Independent reports.
Conte is quoted by The Independent saying:
“I don’t know. I don’t think so. I don’t know, but I don’t think so.
“About the transfer market, I prefer to talk to the club, also to give opinions.”
Why Alexis Sanchez joining Chelsea is unlikely?
The big issue surrounding the situation of Sanchez is the wages, signing-on-fee and his agents fee.
There’s no doubt that the club could agree a transfer sum with Arsenal. Eden Hazard is currently our top earner with £200,000 per week. The Telegraph reports that Sanchez wants £350,000 per week along with a signing-on-fee of £12m and £10m in agent fees.
If Sanchez joined Chelsea meeting these demands, Hazard wouldn’t feel as content after spending five and a half years with us. That is of course, a deal can shortly be agreed with the Belgian.
