It feels like it’s the same story every year with some Chelsea loans. Players go to exciting clubs with the potential to play regularly, and then end up on the bench.
We’re seeing it already this year, and there’s no better example than with Benoit Badiashile. The defender has plenty of talent, and a move to Napoli seemed like it might suit him. But here we are, a month into the season, and he’s played just ten minutes.
Italian paper the Corriere Dello Sport picked up on this today as they looked to summarise the club’s transfer action this summer.
Badiashile forced to wait his turn to start
The Frenchman cost Napoli a €3m loan fee, and has a €27m buy clause in his deal.
They insist “his time will come soon,” and Chelsea will have to hope they’re right. There are some whispers that he’s failed to impress manager Max Allegri, but he’s not had even a chance to do that yet. Let’s wait and see where we stand by the next international break.
