Diego Costa was absolutely rinsed on Twitter on Wednesday night following Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard recently completed his return to his former side after a summer long saga. He will embark on life as an Atletico player once more when the January transfer window opens.
What, on paper, appears to be a good move both on a personal and professional level for Costa, did him no favours as his current and former clubs went head-to-head at the Wanda Metropolitano in the Champions League group stage.
Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi reassured the Chelsea faithful that there has been no void left by Costa’s departure by getting on the scoresheet and ensuring the Premier League champions bagged all three points.
Costa’s reaction to the goal was priceless, and Twitter showed him absolutely no mercy. Here’s how people reacted to it on the social media platform. Diego, if you’re reading this, you may want to click away now.

The fact Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi score two and beat Atletico Madrid with Diego Costa in the stands is not lost on me.

What’s better than scoring one goal in a stadium no team has scored?

Costa travelled all the way from England to watch Morata and Batshuayi destroy his new team.

I’m so happy Costa was there to witness that. Man saw both his replacements score against his beloved Atletico. You can’t write it
