Carlton Cole is an old school Chelsea guy, and it was really interesting to hear his opinions on new manager Liam Rosenior.
“I’ve got high expectations for him because his attention to detail as a manager, from what I’ve seen, is amazing,” Cole said during an interview with 10bet – the best football live betting site.
“He’s confident as well in his ability, and that’s what you want to see as a player, you want to see your leader confident in all his actions. I know the Maresca situation wasn’t ideal for the players, but now they have to go in a different direction and I think they’ll give their all for him.”
If you believe in the Rosenior hype as much as Carlton, you could bet on the Blues to go on a little run here. They’ve got Brentford and Pafos at home, then Crystal Palace away, just after they’ve lost their captain and key man Marc Guehi. Tempting, right?
You could also consider live betting during the games. Given our ridiculous record of dropping points from winning positions at home this season, the move there would be to wait for us to take the lead, then put the house on us messing up in the second half with some dodgy defending.
Even if Rosenior proves to be a genius coach, it’s going to take him some time to sort out that flaw, especially given we’re playing two games a week at the moment so his time with the players on the training pitch is severely limited. As Cole points out, his priority is just to get the group onside before he worries about tactics too much:
“I think he needs to gain the players’ trust first. The players are the most important people in the building at the moment and he needs to gain their trust, get them playing for him. I think he’ll be okay in the long run.”
It’s promising to hear that. Rosenior’s passionate, well spoken press conferences have certainly intrigued journalists, but it’s often hard to tell how that goes down in the dressing room.
Cole seems confident that this sort of attitude and personality can win the group over – and as someone who played under Jose Mourinho, Cole really has seen a master at work.
“Mourinho’s definitely one of those characters you have to respect because he’ll do things in his own way,” Cole explained.
“If he’s upset, even if he’s been upset in his personal life, he might come in and take it out on you. So you’ve got to be very careful about how you tread around Mourinho.”
At the very least, Rosenior seems a little more reasonable than that.
