Chelsea gaffer Frank Lampard has given his say on the team news ahead of the Blues clash against Morecambe in the third round of the FA Cup. This is will be the first-ever match to be played out between the two in any competition, including friendlies. (Chelsea FC)
Speaking to the media, Lampard said:
“Although Reece James will continue training with the team, he is out. Same with Andreas Christensen. N’Golo Kante is out with a minor hamstring and is suspended for Fulham anyway. They are out. The young players have been training with us.”
James is suffering from a hamstring injury and Christensen took a knock on the knee in Chelsea’s draw against Aston Villa. While Frenchman Kante is suspended for the next Premier League game he will have enough time to recover from his injury for important games against Leicester City and Wolves.
The Morecambe game will be used to the advantage of the team to boost morale and help build confidence. While Lampard was reluctant to discuss the actual starting XI, he made his intentions clear on giving minutes to those who need it.
Difficult decisions await the Chelsea manager as he looks to get his team back on track and firing all cylinders.
