There are rumours around this week that Pedro Neto has been offered to Saudi Arabian clubs, and even Man City have been mentioned as interested.
Can Chelsea afford to lose a winger? Probably. They’re not in Europe, plus Morgan Rogers and Geovany Quenda are coming in. Neto has been the most consistently selected of the options on the wing, but could be the one who picks up the most transfer interest for that very reason.
Jamie Gittens needs big improvements in second season
If Neto does go, Jamie Gittens is given more importance, and likely more chances to impress. His chances start this week with the game in Sydney. He spoke to Simon Johnson of the Athletic about how he felt right now.
“I’m feeling much better, more confident now. My body is better. Hamstrings are good, so I’m just waiting for the season to start,” Gittens said.
“I was training every day, in Portugal, in Marbella; training myself to the maximum to get ready for the season.”
It’s all very promising, but we don’t have to take his word for it. He’ll be on the pitch a few times in the coming weeks.
