Chelsea legend John Terry is keeping close tabs on proceedings at Cobham and Stamford Bridge. The now assistant manager at Aston Villa has once again praised Chelsea academy product and revelation Mason Mount.
The former Blues defender is confident of the impact Mason Mount will prove to have in the future tipping him to don the Chelsea captain band and reach heights in what may well be a record-breaking career for the 22-year-old. Terry also poised Mount to succeed as England’s captain.
Speaking on his Instagram Live, Terry said –
“Mason Mount future Chelsea captain? 100% for me. I think he’s been Chelsea’s best player this season to be honest.
Great lad, trains unbelievably well. He’s been there since he was eight so definitely showing leadership qualities and in my mind Chelsea and England captain for me.”

Mount rose as a starter under the tutelage of former manager Frank Lampard, who provided great encouragement to the young lad by selecting him regularly in his starting eleven.
Mason Mount became the youngest player to captain Chelsea (at 22) since John Terry himself who was given the opportunity at 21, to showcase his leadership skills by Jose Mourinho.
In his first season as captain, Terry led Chelsea to their 2004/05 Premier League title in record-breaking fashion with record points earned and most clean sheets in a single season. However, that looks highly unlikely for Mount.
If Mount does succeed in becoming the permanent captain, he will be Chelsea’s first academy product to do so, since Terry’s charge. John Terry has regularly admired Mount’s rise through the ranks and has now provided an enormous boost to the 22-year-old’s morale.
