Jose Mourinho appears to still be somewhat salty that Chelsea sacked him in December 2015.
The man formerly known as ‘The Special One’ is renown for using the press as a means of firing shots at whoever finds themselves in his crosshairs, and he has done so once again during an interview with the Times.
Speaking to the Times, Mourinho described the past two champions of England, Leicester City and Chelsea, as ‘super defensive’:
“The past two champions in the Premier League were super defensive teams. Super defensive teams, with a killer counterattack. So be defensive and have a killer counterattack was the way to win the past two Premier Leagues.”
There’s one main issue with that. Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side last campaign scored more Premier League goals than any side managed by Mourinho has managed since his arrival on these shores in 2004.
He can share his opinion on our style of play, and we can respect that, but essentially what he’s doing here is insulting himself.
Historically, Mourinho’s mouth has been the source of most of his problems, and in this case all it has done is embarrass him. He ought to keep it shut in future.
