The first game of the season is always loaded with excitement, and a big part of that is seeing your new players in action.
At Chelsea there are a host of new faces, but none could prove more important than Maxence Lacroix, who is arriving to be the dominant central defensive presence this team is crying out for. Because of his participation at the World Cup all the way until the final week he’s had a limited preseason, but according to the Frenchman he’s settled in well already.
Lacroix comfortable in two formations

“I’ve settled in well, it’s been really good working with the manager and the other players. It’s really good. All the guys are good and it’s been top training with them every day,” Lacroix said in an interview with the club’s official website.
He also answered questions about the formation which Xabi Alonso might have them playing:
“I’ve played back three and I’ve played back four at Wolfsburg, at Palace and also in the national team. So for me it’s all right for both tactics,” Lacroix explained.
“I think it’s important for any player to be able to play different ways. And also to understand how we want to play, that is always important for me.”
