This advice comes after a string of poor results for Frank Lampard’s Chelsea side have seen the West London outfit drop to ninth in the table. Merson suggests that an experienced and knowledgeable coach such as Harry Redknapp would help Frank to steady the ship, all the while not threatening to take over his job.

The former Arsenal number nine goes on to explain how Frank’s uncle Harry could be employed as a “sounding board” who can offer advice to help the Chelsea boss guide his team further up the table. (Quotes via DailyStar)

“Frank Lampard needs an experienced coach like Harry Redknapp to come in and help him at Chelsea.

Someone he can use as a sounding board who isn’t a threat to his job but has plenty of knowledge and can give him good advice.”

Having only accumulated four points from the last available fifteen, Frank Lampard’s job is under serious threat but could hiring Harry be the answer? Having a proven Premier League manager as a part of the backroom staff could surely only be a positive thing for the Blues, and Redknapp is certainly proven at the top level.

With two must-win Premier League fixtures against Burnley and Wolves on the horizon, Lampard needs to get his team firing on all cylinders once again if he is to save his job.

Chelsea host Championship side Luton Town on Sunday in the FA Cup which could serve as a much-needed confidence boost but defeat could potentially spell the end of Lampard’s tenure.
