Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho still has an admiration for Willian after the Blues lost 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford, ESPN Brazil reports via Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old is in a purple patch after scoring goals against Barcelona on Tuesday and United on Sunday.
Mourinho, who coached Willian for three years at Chelsea, spoke highly of the Brazilian to ESPN Brazil after our defeat in the Premier League.
The Daily Mail quotes Mourinho saying:
“Do you want to talk about Willian? Top, cream of the crop, he’s amazing.”
At the start of the season, Goal reported that Willian had revealed Mourinho’s United had made an approach for him in the summer.
However, the club were adamant that he would not be sold despite talks with the winger’s agent and the Red Devils. Willian explained the situation with Goal in an interview in August:
“Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I’m very happy at Chelsea.”
Despite his inconsistencies last season, it would have been tough to see another player leave for a rival after the sale of Nemanja Matic.
