Marcos Alonso has praised Luis Enrique in light of rumours the former Barcelona boss could succeed Antonio Conte at Chelsea next season, Cadena Cope reports.
Despite doubts of Enrique’s wage demands, The Telegraph reported that the Spaniard is the favourite to be at the Stamford Bridge helm for the upcoming campaign.
The 47-year-old’s achievements are impressive to say the least. At Barcelona, Enrique won nine major trophies, including the treble in 2015 as the Catalans dominated European football.
When speaking to Cadena Cope, Alonso believes that these accolades have shown why he would be a great fit at any club let alone Chelsea.
Alonso is quoted by Cadena Cope saying:
“Luis Enrique has shown at Barcelona that he is a great coach with many qualities and I believe he would be good for any club, but I do not know him a lot on a personal level.”
With the likelihood of Conte departing the Blues at the end of the season, Enrique would provide stability along with a solid relationship with the board.
