Chelsea did really well signing Joao Pedro last summer, and now they need to add more quality alongside him.
Glen Johnson has a very ambitious plan for who the Blues should target.
“I think Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid would be perfect. He seems like he’s on the move this summer and that’s exactly the type of player Chelsea need to go out and snap up,” Johnson said in quotes picked up by Football.London.
“He’s a great player, his work ethic is absolutely through the roof, and he’s a perfectly well-rounded striker. He has proven in the past he can score goals in the Premier League during his time at Man City, and if they could do a sensible deal, offering someone the other way, for example, then that would be a brilliant signing. Chelsea fans would be buzzing with seeing him coming through the door.”
Julian Alvarez not a realistic option for Chelsea
It’s a nice idea. There are just three pretty big problems: Barcelona, PSG and Atletico Madrid. The former two want to buy him, the latter don’t want to sell him.
This is the sort of player Chelsea should be in for. The reality, right now, is that we just can’t offer him anything like what those other teams can competitively.
In other news…
Chelsea and Man City are ready to lock horns in a legal battle over Enzo Maresca, who walked out on the Blues in January and now wants to take over from Pep Guardiola.
Liam Delap is going to be a major headache for Chelsea this summer. He doesn’t look good enough to play for the Blues, but won’t have much transfer interest either.
