Former Manchester United and Manchester City goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes Chelsea has a slight advantage over City, the Mirror reports.
Despite being at the top of the table and being ahead of Chelsea by nine points in the league table, Schmeichel is concerned with the young goalkeeper Ederson that was signed by City in the summer.
Thibaut Courtois is a name included in the ‘Who is the best goalkeeper in the world?’ conversation. This debate also includes Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea. However, Schmeichel insists that despite showing promise, Ederson isn’t at the same level as City’s title rival goalkeepers as the Mirror reports.
The Mirror quotes Schmeichel saying:
“You need your goalkeeper to save 12-15 points to win the Premier League. We know with Courtois he can do that. What we don’t know is with Ederson, can he do that?”
It’s been a defensive struggle for Chelsea this season, which was shown last night in conceding three goals to Roma last night. However, when called upon, Courtois made some fine saves.
Overall, the 25-year-old hardly has any flaws in his game, which is why he’s been described as arguably the best keeper in the world, certainly by many of us Blues fans.
