Chelsea are looking to send their academy graduate, Fikayo Tomori out on loan this month, and Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United is the ‘likeliest destination’ for him, as reported by BBC Sport.
Tomori was a mainstay in defence at least until Antonio Rudiger recovered from injury last season, and made 22 appearances with 15 of them coming in the Premier League. (transfermarkt)
He has found opportunities hard to come by this season, with his only appearance in the league coming as a substitute in the game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in September after Christensen was sent off. (transfermarkt)
The 23-year-old defender was highly sought after in the summer, with clubs including Everton credited with interest in trying to take him on loan, but such a move did not materialise. (SkySports)
Although he is highly rated at Chelsea, Tomori is now the fifth choice centre-back following the arrival of the veteran defender, Thiago Silva. Silva, Zouma, Rudiger, and Christensen have all been preferred to him.
A move to a club managed by the master tactician, Bielsa should benefit him greatly. Leeds are a team that play fast, attacking football, much like Chelsea which would help Tomori’s progression to learn to defend in such a tactical set-up.
