Could Chelsea be set to make a shock splash on deadline day? Rumours circulating on Twitter suggest that the Blues could be in talks to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
The first report comes from the BBC’s Simon Stone. He reports that Mahrez has been released by the Algerian national team in order to finalise a transfer to his new club.

Next came a tweet from GFFN. They report that fellow French outlet L’Equipe are claiming that Chelsea are one of three clubs in talks over signing Mahrez. The other two are said to be arch-rivals Tottenham and La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.

There’s more. Sky Sports got in on the act, claiming that Mahrez checked into a hotel in London last night. They threw Arsenal and Chelsea’s name into the ring.

At the time of writing, it doesn’t look as though anyone knows Mahrez is off to. Only time will tell if it will be Stamford Bridge.
