The Champions League has already witnessed matches being moved as a result of coronavirus restrictions being imposed in countries all around Europe.

Manchester City & Borussia Monchengladbach played two legs in Budapest, the first leg of Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea took place in Bucharest and Liverpool vs RB Leipzig was also played at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest.

Now, both the legs of Chelsea vs Porto in the quarter-final stage will take place in Spain. Sevilla’s Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan will play host to the English & Portuguese team.

The first leg was supposed to take place at Porto’s Estadio do Dragao on April 7, before taking the Dragoes on in Stamford Bridge on April 13.

A statement released by UEFA read:

“UEFA is able to officially confirm that the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first and second leg matches involving FC Porto and Chelsea FC, will now both be played at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan in Seville.

The dates of the matches (7 April and 13 April 2021) and the kick-off times (21:00CET) will remain the same.

UEFA would like to thank FC Porto and Chelsea FC for their support and close cooperation, as well as the Portuguese Football Federation, The Football Association, the Royal Spanish Football Federation and Sevilla FC for their assistance and agreeing to stage the matches.”

Both the teams will be disappointed without their home advantages, but with no fans to play the role of the 12th man, any stadium will do.

This stage of the competition will put both the teams to the sword as they battle out for European supremacy.
