Jesse Derry is close to signing a new contract at Chelsea, according to reports from Sky Sports in the UK today.

Chelsea have not made any major transfer market moves yet, but they are still keeping things moving in the background. A couple of major sales are close, and there is also some contract news incoming.
Pete O’Rourke from Sky Sports news is reporting that the Blues are in advanced talks with teenage winger Jesse Derry over a new contract. The youngster is one of the most promising academy products we’ve had in a while, and it’s no surprise that Juventus and Bayern Munich have been in contact with him to try and steal him away.

Derry got his first team debut last season – although it ended prematurely with a horrible head injury. He will be hoping for some better luck next year. It’s not clear whether the plan is to loan him out or to keep him around Xabi Alonso’s first team squad.
He will be in preseason training in the next few days, presumably with the first team, getting a change to impress the new coach. Let’s get this new contract wrapped up to give him a clear head for these crucial weeks.
