The stat which shows Chelsea’s loss to Man City was once in a ‘Blue Moon’

This stat provided by @SkySportsStatto shows just how rare it is for Chelsea to put in a performance like they did against Manchester City today.

In case you’ve been lucky enough to be living under a rock, you will have seen the score. A 6-0 defeat against Manchester City, just over a week after we were defeated 4-0 by Bournemouth. Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea career is falling apart before his eyes.

Irrespective of whether you believe the Italian deserves a considerable amount of the blame for our recent capitulations, the stats are unambiguous. Chelsea have suffered their heaviest defeat since way back in 1991, with Sarri at the helm.

The Premier League didn’t even exist then. Chelsea have played 1070 league games since a team last scored six goals past us. That’s more than Ryan Giggs played for Manchester United over an illustrious 24-year career.

Sarri can blame the players all he wants, and they’re certainly not playing to their top potential, but he was in charge when Chelsea made history for all the wrong reasons. There’s no getting away from that.
