Chelsea have today announced on their official website that defender Tomas Kalas has signed a new four-year contract with the Blues.

As well as signing a new deal with the Premier League champions, the club also announced that the 24-year-old has agreed to spend the forthcoming season on-loan at London neighbours Fulham, where the Czech Republic defender made 36 appearances last season.

Kalas will join fellow Blues player Lucas Piazon on-loan at Fulham after the Brazilian attacker secured a loan move to the London club earlier this month.

Following the news that Andreas Christensen was given the no.27 shirt and awarded a place in the squad for next season, it comes as no surprise that Kalas has been sent out on-loan to continue his development with a limited number of places in Antonio Conte’s squad.

The defender has played just four times for the Blues with all of his appearances coming in the 2013-14 campaign when Chelsea won the Europa League under interim boss Rafa Benitez.
