Thomas Tuchel 14th game in-charge will see his side welcome Sheffield United in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final clash.
Previously in the competition, Chelsea comfortably dispatched Morecambe and Luton with 4-0 & 3-1 score lines respectively, before going on to narrow out Barnsley with a 1-0 victory.
Tuchel provided important updates as to who will sit out and who is back in the matchday squad. Speaking to chelseafc.com ahead of the encounter, Tuchel said:
“Tammy was with the group today. We had a scary moment when he stumbled and twisted his ankle but it seems not too serious. He was in a lot of pain at the time but he feels ok now. Hope he can be in the squad for Sunday.”
Thiago Silva is nearing return from his injury, however Tuchel is not yet ready to risk him.
“Not the moment to take the risk with Thiago. He is working hard and hopefully he can re-join the group during the international break.
‘I know how hard he and the medical team is working, and we have zero complaints. We are taking our time with him because we want him to feel 100%.”
He also spoke on Olivier Giroud, who he reaffirmed to play a significant role in his plans until the end of the season. He said:
“I think Oli can have a huge impact on our team because he has the experience, the physical presence and the ruthlessness in the box. This is his style of football and he has been very successful for many years.
It is my job to push him and give him the feeling that he is still important and important for me, which he is.”
The Blades sit bottom of the Premier League and will look to seek some kind of redemption going into the match, having lost six of their previous eight fixtures – including a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the beginning of February.
