Chelsea’s pre-season preparations began today (Thursday) as 12 first-team players reported to Cobham for their first training session under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Alonso officially took charge at the start of the month and oversaw the return of players not involved in this summer’s World Cup ahead of the club’s pre-season tour of Australia later this month.
Among those pictured arriving was Brazilian winger Estevao Willian, who returns after missing the World Cup with a hamstring injury.
Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, Levi Colwill and Josh Acheampong were also present, along with Liam Delap, Robert Sanchez, Jamie Gittens, Dario Essugo, Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia.
Summer signing Emmanuel Emegha was pictured at Chelsea’s training ground for the first time since joining from Strasbourg.

Chelsea will continue preparations at Cobham before travelling to Sydney for the start of their pre-season tour.
Alonso’s first game in charge is scheduled for 28 July against Western Sydney Wanderers.
