Gary Neville has highlighted how Chelsea’s defensive frailties were exposed during the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Neville was particularly critical of how Cesar Azpilicueta and Ben Chilwell were left exposed on either flank when up against Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling, with their team-mates failing to help out with their defensive duties.
While Chelsea started the match the brighter of the two sides, after former Blue Kevin De Bruyne went close after 15 minutes, Frank Lampard’s side looked devoid of confidence.
The midfield trio of Kante, Mount, and Kovacic failed to get a foothold in the match which saw Pep Guardiola’s side pile the pressure on the Chelsea defence and had already put the game to bed with three goals within the first 34 minutes.
Chelsea have now suffered four defeats in their last six league matches with the Blues slipping to ninth in the Premier League table.
