The international break is a frustration for club fans who want to see their team in action, but we shouldn’t forget that it means a lot for players.
A great example is Romeo Lavia. He’s finally building up a run of games for Chelsea without injury, and was rewarded with a call up for Belgium. Lavia had played for the Red Devils as a sub, but last night he got his first start for his country. He was excellent against France as his country were narrowly beaten 1-0 by a late goal.
Lavia praised by international coach after full debut at last

After the game, Lavia spoke about his feelings on finally getting a full game under his belt for his country:
“I wasn’t nervous, rather adrenaline. The desire to do well for the supporters,” Lavia said.
“The last three years haven’t been easy. But now things are going very well. That is only positive. The coach is giving me little tips that will help me.”
Manager Mark van Bommel, for his part, said Lavia was “very good” in the centre of midfield. Belgium have two further games in this break, and we expect Lavia to feature in both.
In other news…
Joao Pedro missed the final game before the international break, and could miss at least one more if reports this week are to be believed.
A peak age Premier League full back for £25m? Chelsea find that sort of deal hard to turn down, and we could hear more about this move.
