We’re in the middle of the international break, so last Sunday was a little bit of a drag for some football fans. Just as the season was getting started, there was a blank weekend day in the middle of your calendar.
That is, unless you’re an NFL fan. It just so happened that America’s game kicked off that very day, meaning Blues fans who also like to watch gridiron were kept well entertained.
The return of the NFL prompted Betway to write this blog post, aimed at helping Premier League fans find their team to support across the pond. They suggest Chelsea are like the Miami Dolphins, which is a little harsh to say the least.
There are spot on with the similarities – both teams do play in Blue, and both changed manager in the summer to bring in a young, untested coach who is looking to rebuild from the ground up.
On the other hand, Chelsea are a top side with a rich recent form of winning trophies. The Dolphins… are not. They have declined since their 80s heyday and now slum around at the bottom of their division, talking about the good old days. Reminds us of a fair few Premier League clubs, but certainly not Chelsea.
The Floridans started their season with an absolute stinker – they were battered 59-10 by a rampant Ravens team at the weekend. Perhaps they can take hope from Chelsea, who have come on leaps and bounds since being beaten 4-0 by Man U in their own opening fixture.
Either way, both teams have a fascinating season ahead, and Chelsea fans who also enjoy the NFL are guaranteed entertainment over the next 6 months at least.
