We’re less than a week away from Chelsea’s big Premier League kick off, and we can’t wait. New manager Xabi Alonso will lead his team out for the first time on Monday night against Fulham, and there will be plenty of new faces in the starting XI – but there will also be new faces on the bench.

As well as the coaching staff Alonso has brought with him, there will be Austin MacPhee, the cult set piece coach who joins the Blues from Aston Villa. Alonso has spoken this week about how happy he was to have the top specialist working with him.

“For sure, Austin has experience in the Premier League. For the staff, for us, it is going to be challenging to learn quick and adapt to the Premier League as well,” Alonso said in quotes picked up by the BBC.

“So to have Austin around, Ben [Roberts], other people that were here last year with these fresh experiences from the Premier League and knowing what it takes to win games and to prepare for each game – it helps a lot.

“We are happy that Austin is now with us.”

We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve for Monday night…
