I mean, N’Golo Kante in on loan for the rest of the season, sharing a small part of his wages, is a no brainer, no? Surely the easiest no brainer ever? But is the interest even a thing? If it is, JUST DO IT, as Nike says.
Kante might be about to turn 35, but Kante is a man who can still run nonstop all day long and still has the quality, tenacity, pace, and physicality for the Premier League.
But where did these links even come from?
Well, Matt Law of The Telegraph, to be precise. Whilst writing an article on Chelsea’s hunt for a new centre midfielder this window, he said:
‘Former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kanté is thought to be available for loan this month and has been approached by Fenerbahce.’
So, unfortunately, he’s not even saying that Chelsea are interested or even discussing bringing Kante back. He’s just name-dropped him in a passing comment on potential midfielders who might be available this week, should Chelsea need to take a look at other options. There’s nothing to suggest that we are even thinking about Kante right now. But we should be.
We all know that Kante could still do it. It was only in November when he was even being recalled to the France national squad. So he can definitely still do it at the top level.
He knows Chelsea, loves Chelsea, knows the Premier League, will still know some of the players there, and just imagine Kante in the Chelsea midfield alongside his successor, Moises Caicedo! Who’s getting past those two? If Caicedo misses you, Kante wont!
If you want to get Chelsea fans on side a bit more, this would be the sort of deal you can do as an easy way to do that. Kante comes with needed experience, some leadership in terms of leading by example, can help the youngsters, and will always leave everything out on the pitch.
And if it’s a dry loan deal, and we aren’t paying his full wages, and of course if he even wants to come back (I’d be shocked if he would say no), then this is all a no brainer.
But again, there’s nothing to even suggest that Chelsea are looking at Kante at the time of writing this.
