Don’t you just love it when you’re a driver on a road that is always busy, and you manage to catch it at a moment when for once, it’s not very busy and you cruise right through? What a feeling.
That is what Chelsea should be feeling right now after taking our road to Wembley this season. Because it’s been a very nice and very quiet road to take so far.
For Chelsea, I’m not sure that they will ever get an easier chance to win the FA Cup than they have had this season. Not even close.
Yes, Manchester City are still there. But other than City, we have a Championship side, and a team who are fighting with all their might to NOT be a Championship side next season.
Chelsea are in the last four of the FA Cup alongside City, Southampton, and Leeds United. We just have to beat Leeds to get to the final, and we’ve already reached Wembley.
Of course, you should never be complacent, and we all know that any side can cause us problems. But come on, that looks a heck of a lot better than it could have easily looked not so long ago. Chelsea should be looking at this and believing that they have a real and genuine chance to win the FA Cup this season and add to their silverware of late. It’s a massive chance to do so.
And we should also be looking at what was handed to us on the run up to these last two rounds and be thinking that the football gods are well and truly with us here, and this must surely be a sign of them literally handing us the FA Cup.
Chelsea have not met one Premier League side on our route to the semi finals, that’s really very lucky! But we’ll take all the luck we can get right now!
Chelsea’s Road To Wembley:
R3: Charlton
R4: Hull
R5: Wrexham
R6: Port Vale
S-F: Leeds
We never take things for granted, but if you looked at that at the start of the season and said these are the teams you’ve got to beat to get to the FA Cup final, I think we’d more than take that and expect us to get there – even with our recent inconsistencies.
Leeds will be very tough to beat, I am not saying they wont be. And IF we manage to beat them, it’s likely we will then have to beat City as well to win it. But in knockout football, a one off game against City, literally anything could happen. And with Chelsea as they are right now, I think I’d probably back us to beat City more than I would Leeds….
But either way, Chelsea have well and truly been handed a huge chance to win the FA Cup, and they should be looking at this and grabbing it with both hands and going with it. COME ON CHELSEA!!
