‘Spanish football expert’ Guillem Ballague has suggested that Gareth Bale could be part of the proposed deal to take Eden Hazard to Real Madrid, in quotes carried by The Sun.
The possibility of Hazard joining Real Madrid will have kept Chelsea fans up at night for some time now, and adding Bale’s name into the mix is not going to help anyone with that predicament.
Unfortunately, though, everyone’s favourite journalist has gone and done it…
Ballague is quoted by The Sun saying:
“If Chelsea had the possibility of signing Bale it would be a swap with Hazard and I expect all that to appear in the equation. But I feel Bale doesn’t want to leave.”
Opinion: This would be a horrible idea
Ask yourself: why is it that Chelsea fans have grown so fond of Hazard since he signed for the club back in the summer of 2012?
One of the major contributors towards the development of the love of essentially the entire fanbase has been Hazard’s almost uninterrupted level of consistency.
Yes, he did fall below what was expected of him back in 2015/16, but Hazard has stepped up to the mark and delivered for us on every other occasion. It’s been commendable.
This is something that we could never get from Bale, even if he is a big game player. The Welshman has continual, chronic injury problems.
Parting with a player who has very scarcely struggled with injury during his time at Chelsea, and replacing him with a man as fragile as Bale, would be unwise.
Losing Hazard doesn’t have to be a disaster. The damage will be determined by the manner in which Chelsea react to him leaving – if it happens.
Signing Bale would only make matters worse for us. Marina Granovskaia ought to steer well clear of this possibility.
