Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neill is NOT a happy chap after this weekend.
Strasbourg, Blueco’s other club under their ownership, are not having a very good time of things lately, just like Chelsea in fact. They are 8th in the league, Chelsea are 9th. And recent form has seen them pick up just one win in their last seven matches in all competitions. They had a similar scene to Chelsea’s players recently where they were trying to calm and apologise to fans at the end of the game after being dumped out of The Conference League by Rayo Vallecano. It all got a little tense.
Things have been very toxic at that club for quite some time though, and actually. Strasbourg fans have hated Blueco probably before Chelsea fans seriously started hated them. But they all now collectively detest Blueco together!
O’Neill was put in charge to take over from Liam Rosenior in January. Rosenior lasted all of around three months at Chelsea in the most disastrous decision Blueco have made so far, and there’s been many. The jokes were that O’Neill would then replace Rosenior at Chelsea, and I wouldn’t have put it past them!
Well, O’Neill is now out there publicly calling out Strasbourg’s recruitment in January, and we all know how that ends up…. Bye Bye Gary!
Gary O’Neill:
“I need two top strikers. The owners want to give me the means to perform next season. But it is also necessary to improve the club culture, the quality of the players, the depth of the workforce. We missed each other in January, on the transfer window. We weakened instead of improving the group…”
I’m sort of speaking tongue in cheek here of course, I don’t think they will sack O’Neill. But at the same time, these situations do usually end up with only one ending… So, welcome to Strasbourg, Filipe Luis!
How he’s speaking about improving the club culture though, insane. He could be speaking about Chelsea or Strasbourg here in what is yet another damning reality check for Blueco who are now massively under fire from two sets of fan bases. It’s not looking good for them at all as Chelsea fans prepare for two MORE sets of protest action coming up against them…..
