I’ve genuinely seen people this week try to say that Blueco’s project has NOT failed. I’ve never heard such absolute nonsense. It’s 100% well a truly failed and it’s not even a debate.
Right now, we are in exactly the same position as we were in when they put Frank Lampard in the interim role. Most of the squad had checked out and were leaving that summer, and a big rebuild was coming. Right now, most of our squad has already checked out this season and many of them either want to leave or are definitely leaving. Another rebuild incoming. How anyone can try to convince themselves that this is not a huge example of this project already failing, then you might be beyond help.
Chelsea LOSE 2-1 to Sunderland to finish 10th in the Premier League after what has been a god awful season full of more turmoil, fan protests, three managers, tons of crappy PR lies, and just tone death owners who were convinced that signing a bunch of immature young players with attitude problems and egos without adding any experience was going to end well. Add to that the fact they ignored key attributes like mentality and physicality, it just goes beyond belief.
Manchester United handed us Europa League football next season on a plate, but we literally threw it back in their faces. All we had to do was draw today and we’d have been playing a reasonable European competition next season that I’d have took. But nope, we fumbled it. We were nothing short of disgraceful and embarrassing, and the game just summed up our entire season that I’m so glad is over.
We have so many players who are just not good enough, some of them too immature, bad attitudes, and lack physical and mental strength. The sporting directors and owners BUILT this weak squad, it’s on them. I’m not hearing any blame on anyone or anything else. They hired and drove Enzo Maresca out, they’re driving players like Enzo Fernandez out (why would he want to stay at a 10th place PL team without any European football?), they hired Liam Rosenior, and they signed crap players and tried to tell us they were good. It’s ALL on them.
Sunderland have now got the Europa League place off us because they beat us today, incredible from them, and deserved. They were up for it, they played without fear, and they went for it against our timid kids who were already on the beach on holiday or heada at other clubs.
Sunderland had 45% possession but 21 attempts on our goal, with 6 on target. That just shows how direct they were, whilst cautious Calum was busy trying to play out for the 0-0. Sunderland were on top from minute one and it was so obvious that our players were not at the races at all, and it became obvious we would lose.
Wesley Fofana showed more petulance and bad attitude to get sent off. Needs to be sold along with at least half of the rest of the squad. Fofana is earning big wages though, so I doubt he will be too willing to go. We need to sign AT LEAST 5 new players if we want to get anywhere near it next season, and sell the bad eggs. A ‘culture reset’ after spending £2bn on a squad rebuild less than three years prior is an absolute shambles and a disgrace. Anyone who thinks otherwise is purely delusional at this stage.
I genuinely fear the kind of calibre of player we are going to be able to sign this summer after finishing 10th and failing to even get Europa League. Yikes. Same goes for front of shirt sponsors – our finances will take another big hit. We will now really need to sell, sell, sell.
What a terrible season, what a terrible ‘project’, and what a terrible set of players (not all of them). Thank god that’s over, I can check out myself now and enjoy the sun myself instead and not think about this lot for a little while at least.
