Chelsea Youth One to Watch – Jude Soonsup-Bell

Jude Soonsup-Bell

18 goals in 16 appearances in the U18 Premier League and FA Youth Cup this season for Chelsea striker, Jude Soonsup-Bell, that really is quite something.

He is only 17-years old and has already made a name for himself amongst Chelsea fans who keep a close eye on the youth teams as well as the senior team, and to be honest, you’d even have spotted him training with the senior team on occasions this season.

When you talk about ‘ones to watch’ in the youth ranks at the club, Soonsup-Bell defines that expression. His progression has been impressive and quick, and as you can see from the opening line of this article, the lad has a VERY keen eye for a goal and can finish well.

Chelsea signed him from Swindon Town Youth and he also holds Thailand citizenship, according to Transfermarkt. But he has been a regular in the England youth ranks and he will soon be stepping up from the under-17s there.

Jude actually came to Chelsea as a midfielder, but it wasn’t long before his finishing talents were spotted and he was moved further forward.

He was described as a ‘goal machine’ in a recent article from Goal, but he is far from just about scoring goals.

He names Cristiano Ronaldo as a player he idolises, and there are certainly some similarities in style the way he drives with the ball at his feet, and he is known to be very skilful when dribbling.

He has a very clever and natural football brain and operates with pace, athleticism, and he has good height as well.

One of the best things about Jude is he now uses both feet well after training his left foot heavily when he was a bit younger.

You will see him scoring all types of goals, but also contributing well in the build-up and link play, so he is a player that has it all.

Get ready to start hearing his name a hell of a lot more over the next couple of seasons for sure, and with Thomas Tuchel watching youth games this season, you would feel that he is a player who could get his chances with the German.
