Danilo’s arrival at Chelsea could spell trouble for Victor Moses

Victor Moses played a starring role in Chelsea's title triumph last time around.

Victor Moses may be in big trouble.

It has been reported that Chelsea have agreed a fee with Real Madrid to sign right-back Danilo. The Blues look set to part with £26M in order to get the deal over the line, which surely raises question marks over Moses’ long-term future at the club.

Moses was a revelation last campaign in the right-wing-back role, but it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte sees him as a long-term option in that position.

After being a cornerstone in Conte’s back-line last time around, it seems unlikely that the Nigerian would be willing to sit on the bench. Danilo’s impending arrival, however, may well signal trouble ahead for Moses.

Danilo’s meteoric rise convinced Real Madrid to draft him in, but he has been unable to replicate the performances he put in at Porto, in a Los Blancos shirt. However, when you compare his 2016/17 stats to Moses’ he still comes out on top.

Victor Moses vs Danilo

If Conte is willing to part with as much as £26M to secure Danilo’s services, he must be confident that he can get him back to his very best. If he is successful, Moses will find it difficult to displace him in the side.
