Davide Zappacosta staked his claim to replace Victor Moses in Antonio Conte’s starting side with a brilliant performance against Qarabag on Tuesday night.

The Nigerian has held down the right-wing-back spot ever since Conte changed to a 3-4-3 formation around about a year ago, but now faces genuine competition for his starting spot for the very first time under the Italian’s management.

On his first ever start in a Chelsea shirt, Zappacosta scored his very first goal. After flying past two Qarabag players down the right-hand-side, he thumped the ball into the back of the net from a seemingly impossible position. Did he mean it? Click here to see the goal and decide for yourself!

Intentional or not, Zappacosta left a lasting impression on the Chelsea faithful in attendance, and has left Conte with a big decision to make ahead of the Arsenal clash.

What do you think? Was Zappacosta’s performances enough to earn him a starting spot? We’re running a poll on Twitter, have your say!
