It’s time to check in on the latest Chelsea analysis by Gary Neville.
Some people will agree with Neville and his opinions on football, but the vast majority of Chelsea fans, will not.
So, I am urging anyone involved with Chelsea to bookmark this article, save it somewhere or whatever, and prove Gary Neville wrong this season. Use it as motivation.
Neville still thinks Chelsea are nowhere near winning the league. Maybe he’s right? Although I don’t think we will win it this season, I wouldn’t say we are NOWHERE near winning it…
Neville said on his Podcast this week:
“I think Chelsea will sort of tease us at moments where we think ooh, are Chelsea getting close? but they’ll get close and then drop points and drop to 5th, then they’ll go to 4th and then sort of 5th and 2nd, 6th and 3rd, this is where I think Chelsea will operate, I don’t think they’re anywhere near winning the league, I don’t think they have great players and they are well short in several areas, but they are good, they are a good team, I think they will be top 4 or 5.”
“We saw this with Arsenal for a few years, come on guys, are you ready to step up and win this league or just happy losers if you like, happy runners up.”
I do also think he’s right that we are still short in some areas, and I also have some doubts over a good handful of our new signings. But we are closer than he thinks we are, I am sure of that. Do I trust that we will make the right calls and signings to get us there? Perhaps not. But I still don’t think we are that far off mounting a serious challenge on all fronts again as these players continue to mature, eventually.
