This list is so long that I’ve actually forgotten the total number of names that are added to it.
All I know at this point is that Olivier Giroud has now joined a VERY long list that includes the likes of John Terry, John Obi Mikel, Frank Lampard, Pat Neven, and Joe Cole just to name some of them. I’m pretty sure that now we could actually field an incredible starting Xl from this list of class former Chelsea players who know exactly what they are talking about.
And now, we add Giroud to this team to spearhead the attack. Always loved Giroud!
I am of course talking about former Chelsea players who have said that what this current squad lacks and has lacked over the last few seasons now, is EXPERIENCE. For me, it’s always just been a fact and not even an opinion – it’s just common sense.
Giroud, who was on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports earlier this week, said:
“I like Delap a lot. If the team settles well and with a bit of time, I think he can be the type of striker who can do the job.
“I think Enzo Maresca is doing well so far, he’s fourth in the table, and they won their last game.
“I’ve seen them performing at the Club World Cup, a competition I did play with LAFC. I’ve been really impressed by this team.
“But to be honest with you, when you have so many young players in the room, it’s kind of a different period than when I was there back in the days. They are doing a great job, but I think they still need some time to compete for the title.
“Maresca needs a striker who is consistent, and more experience in the squad, there’s a lot of young player.”
Well said, Oli, well said… Oh, and welcome to my team of elites.
