Another Premier League match for Manchester City last night, and another easy win for the league leaders.
Pep Guardiola’s side have now stormed ahead in the Premier League, 15 points above Manchester United in second place, and 21 points ahead of Chelsea in 5th place.
Could Tammy Abraham leave Chelsea this summer? With clubs circling, find out the latest here.
The gap is huge, and Roman Abramovich wants it to be A LOT less. In fact, Roman Abramovich wants Chelsea challenging for the title again as soon as possible, hence the heavy handed hiring and firing approach continuing with Frank Lampard being outed for Thomas Tuchel.
For Chelsea to challenge City, I believe we need four signings in four key areas – the spine of the team.
Although I do rate Edouard Mendy, the jury is still a little out for me and I think we need a top class goalkeeper to come in, someone like Gianluigi Donnarumma, who we are linked with.
Then in front of him, we need a ready made experienced centre back, someone in the calibre of Jose Gimenez, who we have also been linked with.
Then continuing the spine of the team, in front of the defence, we need a sitting midfielder, a traditional style one who is good defensively and on the ball. Here I would still be going for Declan Rice.
To finish off the spine, we need a top class goal scoring all round centre forward, a real number nine. Give me Erling Haaland any day of the week, but if not – Romelu Lukaku will do just fine!
We should oust some of the deadwood to fund these moves, that will actually bring in some decent money. So this it totally do-able.
Job done Roman!
