Chelsea have this afternoon confirmed that coach Joe Edwards has joined Everton alongside Frank Lampard, and what a huge miss he will be to the club.

Lampard has finally been confirmed by Everton after weeks of speculation and talks, and there was all sorts of talk of various Chelsea coaches potentially going to join him at The Toffees.

It would be amazing if you guys subscribed for my project over at Si & Dan Talk Chelsea, where we are putting out so much Chelsea content including DAILY Newsletters, exclusive news, breaking news, Podcasts, interviews, inside information, and bringing in some massive guests!

Anthony Barry was another, but it looks like he has decided to stay with Chelsea, and as much as Edwards will be a huge miss, we have to also be very thankful that Barry, another top class coach who has made a big difference at the club, is staying with us.

Edwards though will be a hard pill to swallow not just for the fans, but for the players as well. Edwards has been at the club for 27-years, so he was here before some of the players were even born.

And it is the players who will miss him the most, players such as Mason Mount, Reece James, and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who all have great relationships with him having come up through the academy working closely with Edwards over the years.

He was promoted into the first team setup when Lampard took the reigns, and he stayed there under Thomas Tuchel as well, which was a welcome surprise at the time, and yet once again proves the quality he has as a coach and respect others have of him.

He’s been a great link and help for Tuchel when he first arrived at the club, and he has also been a great advisor as to which youth players are good enough to be called upon for the first team squad.

But not just that, his coaching skills are fantastic and he has made a real difference to many of the senior players games and been great to have in and around the camp.

He will be a massive loss for Chelsea, but good luck, Joe. He deserves the best.
