If you’ve been out all morning or up in the air in a plane, or something entirely different that’s kept you away from the football news this morning, you’ll be completely shocked to log on and see some massive reports involving Chelsea today.
Chelsea announced that Bruce Buck is stepping down from his role of chairman at the club, something that will be effective as soon as the end of the month. Then, Matt Law of The Telegraph dropped his report claiming that Marina Granovskaia will be leaving her role as director as well. She could even leave as soon as Buck, or at least before the end of the transfer window.
So, this obviously sparked a frenzy and panic amongst Chelsea fans, whilst many others were just too busy celebrating the news. But then realisation hit in and people saw that reports claim Todd Boehly will not only have to be Chelsea’s owner and chairman now when Buck leaves, but he might even need to be our chief transfer negotiator as well. It was confirmed in Law’s report that Boehly WILL be the new Chelsea chairman, so that’s already double his work load. But adding in transfer negotiator as well IF Granovskaia leaves before the end of the window, is a pretty heavy work load and a lot of responsibilities.
I still don’t think our summer plans will be affected at all though, because most of our targets are all Thomas Tuchel targets and players already agreed by the new owners that Tuchel can try and sign. So, I don’t see things changing in terms of the names we are trying to sign and any deals we are progressing with. It might just be a bit different in terms of how Boehly will operate in negotiations, to how Granovskaia operates. We might soon find out!
