Tammy Abraham is a great striker, and yes if they end up selling him it is always a risk and something they could learn to regret.
However, IF they are going all out to try and bring in a world class striker this summer such as Erling Haaland or Romelu Lukaku, then they might be wise to sell Abraham this summer.
Chelsea are in for Erling Haaland this summer, find out more here.
Especially now the fact that The Athletic are reporting that he will not sign a new Chelsea contract whilst the club are looking at signing a new striker.
The England international has two years left on his deal, meaning that to sell him for a maximum fee they would have to do so this summer if he is not signing an extension.
I can actually understand why Abraham is not keen on extending; he wants to be the main man for any club he plays for, and at Chelsea right now his regular game time is already not guaranteed, and will only drop even more if they sign a new striker in the summer.
He sat the bench in a big Champions League game for Chelsea last night, these are games he wants to be playing in. He could probably just about accept a role at Chelsea as long as he was playing regularly, but he wont be if a world class talent arrives.
As a fan, and being selfish, I want him to stay and would like him to regardless, if he just has a squad role. But for a young and ambitious striker, that is a lot to ask and I’d totally understand if he asks to leave this summer.
He will always be a good player, and a good goal scorer, but I’m just not sure he has that extra factor about his game to really make him stand out and make it at the very top level of the game.
