Pressure will grow on Lampard until top summer signing finally starts

Many fans hoped to see Christian Pulisic in Chelsea’s starting lineup against Manchester United, but they were left disappointed as Frank Lampard selected a line of Ross Barkley, Mason Mount and Pedro behind Tammy Abraham.

The American was finally introduced in the second half, replacing Barkley. He wasn’t able to change much with the team already losing, and after a couple of nice touches he faded out as Untied struck three more times on the counter.

The question now is whether Lampard keeps him out of the team. It’s normal to mix up your side after a defeat, especially a heavy one, but it’s hard to see introducing the lightweight winger as a solution to preventing more goals.

There is a midweek game against Liverpool to come before next week’s hard game at home against Leicester. We reckon our new signing will start at least one of those matches, but which is considered more important, and which Lampard will consider playing a more attacking setup in, remains to be seen.

What we do know for sure is that the longer the former Borussia Dortmund man is out of the team, the louder the calls to include him will grow.
