Maurizio Sarri’s time at Chelsea so far has been somewhat staggered.

Wave by wave he had players arriving back from their post World Cup rests, then he had signings popping up one by one all the way to deadline day.

The final arrival was Mateo Kovacic, and while he wasn’t fit to play against Huddersfield last time out, with another week of training under his belt he should be in a position to start against Arsenal.

That means that for the first time since arriving, Sarri will be able to select his first choice XI. That’s an exciting prospect for Chelsea fans.

The fact that he can now pick his favoured team is great news, although that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a long way to go tactically getting them to gel.

But tomorrow we will start to see the form of this season’s first team emerging from the Italian tactician’s mind.
