Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has gone from zero to hero in the space of one season for many Chelsea supporters.

The Italian international was wrongly used as the scapegoat last season by some fans due to arriving at the club alongside Maurizio Sarri from Napoli, and being the orchestrator of a brand of football that many Blues fans grew frustrated with watching.

This season he has been able to play with a little more freedom under Frank Lampard but essentially he still has a similar role. He is the Chelsea heartbeat, that one midfielder who drops in to receive passes from the goalkeeper and the defenders and advances the team up the pitch.

Jorginho is one of the most press-resistant players in the league and he has started to show more of his long passing vision as well, something that was restricted under Sarri, who preferred his team to make short passes.

The 27-year old is thriving for the Blues this season and has become a real leader on the pitch. He isn’t blessed with pace, but has improved a lot and adapted to the physical side of the Premier League.

Yesterday in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Brighton where you could of used Coral promo code 2019 to bet on the game he put in another performance worthy of gaining man of the match. He looked every bit the warrior fighting for every ball and showing the passion and desire that Lampard wants to see from his players.

Having stepped up to score Chelsea’s penalty and break a worrying deadlock, Jorginho celebrated as if he just won the World Cup. This is what the fans love to see and will relate to, this is what will keep him held firmly inside their blue hearts.

The main thing for Jorginho though, is that he is fully rated and trusted as one of the key players in his managers line up, probably one of the first names he writes on his team-sheet. That says all you need to know.
