I’m highlighting these two positives from our win over West Ham on Saturday night because these are two things I’ve desperately been asking for and wanting to see for time now. So when I see them happen, it’s so important to hone in on them and speak about them.
The two takeaways I am talking about is the reaction of the whole Chelsea team when muscle-bound angry scrubs started trying to wrestle, fight, and choke our players. The second one is Liam Rosenior’s reactions to asking about the fans booing and being angry at half time. I picked up on these in the match report, but I wanted to speak about them a bit more because everything that went on last night, these are my two biggest positive takeaways from it.
Let’s start with Rosenior’s reactions. He’s a likeable character for sure. I’ve got really annoyed with some of our recent head coaches for how they have reacted and the things they have said in public, especially when they snap back and start arguing with the fans. I’ve never understood that. Why do it? It will get you nowhere.
Rosenior, instead of snapping back at the fans for getting angry at half time yesterday, put himself in our shoes and understood the anger. This was a perfect response. No snap back, no excuses, no trying to blame anyone or anything else, just taking responsibility and understanding the fans.
The next thing was how the players reacted to being physically assaulted by a bunch of morons with anger issues. Adama Traore runs fast and has arms bigger than his head, but this knobhead should have been sent off yesterday as well as his angrier team mate, Jean-Clair Todibo, who should turn to MMA rather than football. And Traore should be an oily Men’s Health model rather than a footballer.
But anyway, massive fair play to Joao Pedro, Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana, and the rest of the Chelsea players for running in to help Marc Cucurella, who got wrestled to the ground by a huge baby oiled arm, and then Pedro, who got street-assaulted himself.
And yes, we know we will get a ‘failure to control your players’ charge from the FA but who cares? What were we going to do, just let them idiots throw us around like rag dolls? Nah, LOVE to see this.
And West Ham, you need to do something with your angry animals. The look in their eyes, they were SO angry… Clear issues there lads. Sort it out.
