Apparently Real Madrid will make an attempt to sign N’Golo Kante from Chelsea next summer, so says The Athletic.
Now, let me reassure Chelsea fans, this isn’t an Eden Hazard situation, the ball will very much be in Chelsea’s court here.
Hazard was running his Chelsea contract down and wasn’t going to sign a new deal at the club. He had often publicly stated that it was his dream to play for his boyhood club Real Madrid, so it was always going to happen and Chelsea were powerless.
However, Kante only recently signed a new 5-year contract worth £290k-a-week with Chelsea just under a year ago.
This means he now has just over 4 years remaining on that contract. So unless Madrid offered at least £500 million, plus 3 of their superstars (yeah why not include Hazard we’ll have him back!), then simply, Chelsea will not accept an offer for their best player and only remaining World Class player.
I also don’t believe that he would ever hand in a transfer request.
So will we have to witness Kante running down his deal? I highly doubt that, and if he does, he will be 32 years old when his deal does run out.
Although I have no doubt at all that he will still be World Class and have legs for days, he won’t quite be the player he is peaking at now, that’s just natural. So he won’t be as sought after.
Nah, he’s staying at Chelsea for life!
