Dortmund’s recently slapped transfer market price of €180m on Erling Haaland does not come as a surprise, taking into consideration the fact that he has emerged as a young generational striker whose almost every shot seems to convert into goals.

He has scored more goals this season than appearances – 33 goals in 31 caps – and a striker of his ability has a place in any team in the world.

Chelsea’s frontline with Giroud, Abraham, and as of the moment, Kai Havertz, has fantastic quality. But one of Tuchel’s problem this season has been goal-scoring.

Since the German’s appointment, Chelsea have scored only 17 goals in 14 matches. They have gone scoreless on three important occasions in the Premier League – against Wolves, Leeds & Manchester United.

Haaland has the quality to up these numbers but one thing is for sure, he will not come cheap.

His transfer release clause of €75m does not emerge until next year when the Norwegian enters his final two years of contract at Signal Iduna Park. But Dortmund will find it extremely hard to reject incoming big money in the range of almost €200m.

They will be selling him for almost a remarkable 9 to 10 times the price they bought him for from RB Salzburg. He signed from the Austrian club for just €20m.

Speaking recently to the press, in quotes picked up via football.london, his father Alf Inge, a former Manchester City player himself, said:

“At one stage he would like to play in the Premier League, but when that will happen, I don’t know. It is a very tough league, but he is built for the Premier League. Whether that will happen now or at a later stage, we don’t know.”

Chelsea have long been interested in securing Haaland’s signature and according to a recent talkSPORT report, Roman Abramovich has already given a ‘green light’ for Chelsea to make a move.

Numerous developments have taken place in recent months and fans cannot help but be excited on the prospect of having the energetic prodigy in the starting eleven next season.

The 20-year-old has also been the talk of a reported ‘promise’ by Abramovich to Tuchel – given the German can guide Chelsea to a top-four finish – something that seemed far-fetched when Frank Lampard was in charge.

Talking in terms of the money involved in such a deal, Manchester City & Real Madrid look as highly probable destinations. Haaland has denied any rumours with a move to Spain, but any offer from the Spanish capital will be highly irresistible.

Bayern Munich remain another contender in the race for his signature but it’s the question of money again.

Clubs are struggling less than before to keep operations running, mainly due to the resumption of competitions. But, it remains to be seen if Chelsea can afford to match Dortmund’s demand.

It’s no secret that Die Schwarzengleben are keen to keep Halaand. However, the club will not think twice to accept an offer for what they have quoted.
