Chelsea grabbed a vital three points against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium thanks to Eden Hazard’s well-taken goal.
The Blues had been the dominant side, especially in the first half. We asserted our authority for most of the match and controlled the tempo whilst creating chances.
However, going goalless into half-time, Chelsea needed to break the deadlock and our Belgian magician delivered the goods.
Alvaro Morata’s persistency in keeping control of the ball was brilliant and the pass was picked out nicely. Hazard was one on one with former-Blues goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as the winger placed the ball past the Bosnian. This gave Chelsea the lead just five minutes into the second half.
Despite some pressure from Bournemouth late in the game, Chelsea looked much more solid at the back than we have in recent times.
In a much neeeded win for the Champions, we still sit fourth in the table, just one point behind Tottenham but still nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
So here are our Chelsea player ratings from this evening’s match:
Courtois 5, Azpilicueta 6, Luiz 5, Rudiger 7, Zappacosta 6, Bakayoko 5, Fabregas 6, Alonso 4, Pedro 5, Morata 6, Hazard 10. (Subs: Drinkwater 6, Batshuayi 5, Willian 5)
