Cesar Azpilicueta has reflected on the ‘perfect night’ as Chelsea defeated Qarabag 6-0 on Tuesday evening.
Azpilicueta has featured for the Blues in the Champions League during four respective campaigns, but was forced to watch on television last time around as the now Premier League champions did not qualify.
He wasted no time in announcing his return to the biggest club competition in football with a bang. As Chelsea hit Qarabag for six, Azpilicueta scored his first goal of the season, and only his sixth ever in blue.
The Spaniard met Cesc Fabregas’ beautifully weighted delivery and headed into the back of the Qarabag net to bag Chelsea’s third goal of the night.
Tougher tests lie ahead for Antonio Conte’s side, but you can only beat what’s in front of you, and they did – emphatically.
Azpilicueta logged onto Twitter following the full-time whistle to reflect on what he described as ‘a perfect night’ under the lights at Stamford Bridge.
