Chelsea transfer target Moussa Dembele has teased fans with his cryptic social media posts, in which he has promised a “big announcement”.
The Celtic striker has enjoyed a strong season in Scotland, scoring 17 times in 29 Scottish Premier League games and three times in six Champions League appearances, including a double against Manchester City.
Despite playing a huge role in Celtic’s “invincible” season, in which they went unbeaten in the league, Dembele has hinted at a move away from the Scottish champions, and Chelsea, who have been long-term admirers, are rumoured to be eyeing him up.
The 20-year-old posted on Instagram: “FanLuv, big announcement alert soon! Stay tuned! #BigMoveAlert #Dembelition #InvincibleOnTheWay.”
He also posted this selfie on Snapchat:
On top of this, his agent, Mamadi Fofana, also posted a picture of Dembele with a suitcase at the airport with the hashtags: “#ImUpToSomething #BigMettingAlert #BigMoveAlert.”
The final image posted was simply of a suitcase with the caption: “Big meeting alert.”
With Diego Costa seemingly out the door at Chelsea, following the revelation that head coach Antonio Conte does not wish to keep him on at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will undoubtedly be in the market for a new striker.
Most rumours have pegged Romelu Lukaku as the Blues primary target, but Dembele, who only joined Celtic last summer, could be on Conte’s summer shopping list.
In February, Fofana broke his silence and stated that Dembele would be spending the remainder of his contract at Celtic, despite the heavy links to Chelsea. Speaking with The Daily Record, he said:
“He signed a four-year deal at Celtic and, in his head, he’ll be at Celtic for those four years. It’s good. It means we are all doing well. The boy is doing well, Celtic are doing well.”
